Summa Elvetica: A Casuistry of the Elvish Controversy is the first novel set in the world of Selenoth to be published. It takes place about one year before the events in The Arts of Dark and Light begin.

The story centers around the journey of a delegation from the Church of the Immaculate in Amorr to Elebrion, the city of the high elves, to determine whether elves have souls. It is told entirely from the perspective of Marcus Valerius, in the year before he becomes a tribune in Legio XVII.

The first edition of Summa Elvetica was initially released in 2008 with the short stories "Master of Cats" and "Birth of an Order." The second edition was released in 2013 with all of the short stories published up to that date.
